VITALISM, An Installation by Zeinab Alhashemi

Nomads are wanderers. I tend to use the same way of wandering around in search of inspiration, meeting individuals, seeking the same visions and different stories. In my search, I wanted to revisit artisans I worked with in the past and bring in a different perspective of their craft.
The artwork is displayed in an incomplete form to capture the beauty of the process. It shows a half made “Gargour”, an Emirati term for fish traps.
Our eyes are used to overseeing things while they are in the process of happening, such as the construction of buildings and roads in our day to day life in the city. The installation, in a sacred geometry layout from ancient design is an invitation to connectivity and unity.
Then MONTROI studio in Dubai Design District, Building 7 will be showcasing the installation for the three months commencing in Dubai Design Week in November 2017.
