Riviera Nostos, a journey of return

In Homer’s Odyssey, nostos was never simply the physical journey of Odysseus returning to Ithaca after the Trojan War. It was a return shaped by time, detours, and transformation, where coming home meant rediscovering who you are. Nostos was not a straight line, but a passage through experience, memory, and learning.

This notion continues to linger along the Athenian Riviera. The coastal stretch south of Athens carries a rare tension between permanence and movement. Sun-bleached stone, deep blue horizons, and a rhythm of life shaped by millennia of craftsmanship form a landscape that feels both ancient and alive.

It was into this living culture that the Montroi team travelled. Moving along the coastline, learning from the land and its people, listening to stories, and discovering local artisans whose pieces are deeply rooted in Greek heritage. Along the way, the team encountered creators such as Olgianna Melissinos, Angeliki Stamatakou, and Alexandra Coe, each representing a contemporary expression of craft shaped by history, heritage, diverse techniques and materials, and a strong sense of place, all deeply influenced by the natural beauty of Greece.

Along the Athenian Riviera, craft becomes memory, and the act of making becomes a way of returning. Return is never about repetition, but moving forward while preserving what matters, and letting the rest slowly fall away.

This understanding became the foundation of the fragrance Riviera Nostos. Created by Montroi exclusively for One&Only Aesthesis, it is an aromatic interpretation of return. Notes of black tea and leather bring depth and strength, while warm birch and amber evoke the Cycladic sun, anchoring the composition in nature, memory, and the timeless presence of the Athenian Riviera.
